QuickBooks Online is a cloud-based software that can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection, while QuickBooks Desktop is on-premise—meaning it can only be accessed from the computer where it is installed. In addition, the Premier and Enterprise plans offer more than 150 reports, with industry-specific reporting options available. We think QuickBooks Online is the best overall option for small businesses, but QuickBooks Desktop Premier is a great option for niche businesses.
